January Newsletter

The SASi Board of Directors and staff want to wish all of you a very happy and healthy New Year!  We hope you will continue to support the programs we have to offer.

Board President, Bruce Wendle, has a message for the non-seniors who like to eat lunch or breakfast here.

Beginning January 1, 2015, the board has voted to raise the non-senior meal fee  of $6.00 to $7.50. This will only apply to people who are under 60 years of age.  Bruce stated, “recent studies have shown the cost of our meals calculate out to $7.50 per meal. Although we are aware there are less expensive meals available in town, we have found an increase will help to keep our overall expenses down.

The suggested voluntary donation of $4.00 will stay the same for seniors 60 and older.  The agencies we work with subsidize the meals to those of you who fall in that category so we can break even on these costs.”  SASi will continue to provide healthy, tasty meals to anyone needing a meal while enjoying new or long time friendships during these meals.

The Board of Directors would like to announce Michele Mitchell and Ron May as their newest members for 2015.  Ron started coming to SASi in the fall of  2014 and can be found here on a daily basis for lunch and cards.  He and his wife, Loretta, have worked and lived in the area for many years.  Ron has been a business owner and an elder of his church. Michele is also relatively new to SASi.  From 1984 – 2011, Michele worked in Washington, D.C. on a TV show Voice of America.  This show addressed issues of American life and news.  When asked what brought her to Sandpoint, she stated, “It was the beautiful lake and bridge, of course.” Michele is a big help during the Tuesday Bridge games.

We are so grateful to them for volunteering to be on the board.  Please get to know them!

Thanks to everyone who gave to the Employee Holiday Fund jar!

There are still plenty of raffle tickets for the February 5, drawing for the Hawaiian condo trip and the “Staycation” at La Quinta hot tub suite.
